"McKnight's Workforce Development Forum"

The event kicks off Thursday, May 16 @ 10:30am ET.

The 2024 McKnight’s Workforce Development Forum is a must-attend event for anyone with employees. Period. The pandemic may have exacerbated the difficulties of fully staffing a long-term care, senior living or home care operation. But recruitment and retention will be ongoing challenges, no matter what time frame. Attendees will be offered a series of webinars with practical, workable ideas to improve employee recruitment and retention. These battles won’t go away. The McKnight’s Workforce Development Forum is a way to keep up the good fight.

Participants will learn about the latest methods and research for what’s working and what might not be such a good idea. Also addressed will be which of the “old” approaches are still a good idea, and why. Attendees will be able to ask questions in real time and also earn 1 free continuing education credit during the indicated session. This is an outstanding event that all managers and hiring personnel in long-term care, senior living and home care should check out.

Session Information:

Session 1 at 10:30am ET, sponsored by KARE

"The data doesn’t lie: Unveiling the truth about trauma in the long-term care workforce"

In this webinar, participants will learn why the principles of Trauma Informed Care (TIC) are important to apply not only to residents, but to employees as well. Since the inception of the TIC regulation (FTag-699), organizations have solely focused on trauma as it relates to their residents. However, new original research by KARE demonstrates the importance of understanding trauma in your workforce. This study offers invaluable insights into the intersection of adverse childhood experiences, impacts on physical and mental health from COVID-19, and workplace well-being.

Learning objectives

  • Understanding trauma: Participants will gain an understanding of how trauma impacts their employees.
  • Understanding the Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) study: Participants will develop an understanding of the original Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study, the impact of ACEs on an individual’s physical, emotional, and mental health across the lifespan. Participants will learn how pervasive this is in the long-term care workforce.
  • Implementing Trauma-Informed Practices: Participants will explore strategies for integrating trauma informed practices into workplace culture aimed at fostering resilience and promoting well-being among staff members affected by trauma.

Speakers:

  • Jean M. Hartnett, MHSA, NHA, CDP, YTT, CNA, Founder of Radical Sabbatical
  • Katie Rhone, Senior VP of HERO, Employee Experience at KARE
